8th Grade promotion information

Readers theater and a little acting in Mrs. Braden’s sixth grade class.

Bus Drivers are so important and we have some of the best! Thank you to our transportation team for always going above and beyond for our students!

Mrs. Ogden's fifth graders went to read to Mrs. Clote's first graders.

Mrs. Judy Gomel's advisory class took 320 pounds of aluminum cans to the recycling center this week and earned $144. We will be donating the entire $144 to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation. Thank you so much for your can contributions.

As part of Career Ladder, teachers have the opportunity to offer clubs and activities for students. Mrs. Rockwell is offering a game club for students and several students are taking advantage of the fun time with friends.

We are celebrating Nurse Hatcher throughout the District today on National School Nurse Day. When Mrs. Hatcher is not at school she enjoys camping and spending time with her family. Thank you for all you do each day Jolene!

Mrs. Jolene Hatcher serves all the students and staff at the Elsberry R-2 School District. Not only does she deal with sickness, she monitors daily meds, immunization records, schedules the dental clinic and vision van, and does CPR and First Aid training. This is just the tip of the iceberg of all the things she does day to day. Nobody looks forward to a call from the school nurse, but we are very lucky to have Mrs. Hatcher on our staff.

Our SRO is the best! SRO Conner participated in dress like a student day and provided a snack cart to our staff for teacher appreciation week. Thanks for providing all of the extra fun and treats!

We are hiring a teacher for the Braves program! The ideal candidate is a certified teacher who works well with students of all abilities and can help students stay engaged, organized and current with classwork. BRAVES teachers work together to create a supportive environment for struggling learners in grades 7-12. They provide academic academic support and tutoring for all subjects, provide guidance and strategies to students on how to be successful at school, and communicate daily with teachers throughout the building. Candidates should be well organized, able to assist students in all subject areas, and able to work with a wide variety of students and staff. As part of our professional development, middle school teachers talked about the importance of descriptive feedback for students and helping students know what skills they need to be successful. During professional development teachers were working on throwing a ball into a container. Three different teachers had three attempts to make the shot. They were given different types of feedback to help them accomplish this task in order to demonstrate how powerful descriptive feedback can be in helping accomplish a task.
