The ASVAB test will be given to all EHS Juniors on Thursday, February 9, 2023. Seniors who would like to retake the test need to go see Ms. Towery.
What is it? It's an aptitude test used for military entrance and placement; however, it's also often used for career exploration. The test even includes portions all about automotive repair, mechanical comprehension, and electrical knowledge. The results can help students determine career paths that they might be good at after high school.
Why are they taking it? Not only for career exploration, but we purposefully choose the paper/pencil version as it is great, free practice for the ACT. While a few of the testing portions definitely won't show up on the ACT and not all of the content is the same, it's mental endurance and standardized testing practice. Half the battle of performing well on the ACT is being able to stay focused for so long and applying test-taking strategies.
